If I reply to a posting and make a typo in my password (because I haven't logged on yet) when I hit the submit button to post, I get an error page saying the password was wrong.

Fair enough.

Unfortunately, there is no way I could find to get me back to my previous screen to enter the correct password without losing all my text typing

The same thing happens to me. I will go and look for a reference to paste into a post, and before I leave, I will copy the text so that when I come back I can paste, but half the time I will not remember to retype my password, and click submit and BAM! it's all gone. Doh!

Guys,
I've made the same mistake a few times in the past, but I remember always being able to hit the back button on my browser and get back to my posting, where I can correct the password and resubmit. I just tested this a few minutes ago, and it seems to work fine. I also realized that since the session cookie expires after 1 hour, maybe someone will be logged in, and start typing a post, but walk away, and when he comes back over 1 hour later, and hits submit, it won't go. But, it will prompt the user to log in. By clicking this link, and logging in, the user can click the back button a few times to get back to his posting, and will now be able to click submit. I have tested both of this, but I do agree with both of you that this isn't an optimal solution, and many newbies probably wouldn't catch on to the trick I just mentioned. I'll look into this. Perhaps pulling up a page prompting for a login, but also carrying along the posting information.. I dunno...

Just tried using the back button. Didn't work using IE V5.5. Got a completely reset form. No saved message body.

Interesting. I'm using IE5.0, and it doesn't clear out the form. Apparently this must be a "feature" when you upgrade to 5.5. Because obviously if you're hitting "back" your doing it because you want to redo the form right????
Well, I'll look into making a solution in the code on my end. BTW, Neil, I didn't forget about the javascript screen-width thingy. I'm saving that tidbit of fun for the weekend!
