QM1 is your Gateway QM.
An app on ServerA connects in client mode to QM1 on Server1 to put a message, and QM1 is a single point of failure.
An app running on Server1 connects in bindingsmode to QM1 on Server1 to put a message, and QM1 is a single point of failure.
There is no differance.

MQSeries is not a load balancing tool

The gateway QM round robins the outgoing messages. This is an unsophisticated type of load balancing, and part of the base MQ product.

I have been lead to believe that an application using BINDING mode can PUT a messages to a Cluster without specifying a QManager name.

So can an app connecting in client mode. _________________ Peter Potkay

Sorry, I thought I made it clear that Load balancing using a Gateway MQManager was not part of the deal.

How?
If it is trully possible, I would like to know how. _________________ Yes, I am an agent of Satan but my duties are largely ceremonial. |

Any client app can connect to any QM, clustered or not, and can put a message. It does not have to specify a QM name on the MQCONN, and it does not have to specify a QM name on the MQOPEN/MQPUT1 provided there is either a locally defined remote queue definition of the Q name used in the MQOPEN, and/or the QM is clustered. _________________ Peter Potkay
