I'm running MQ 5.3 on z/OS with most latest patches/fixes.
I'm planning on running large volumes of batch messages through my cluster from z/OS to Windows. In case there is a problem with the channels or the Windows queue managers, I wanted to make sure the space allowed for the pageset in which SCTQ resides is large enough to hold the batch for eventual delivery.
The space I have in the storage class which the SCTQ sits now is not large (200 cyl I think). Instead of increasing that pageset, can I just assign the SCTQ to another storage class pageset which is backed up by a much larger pageset?
The storage class associated with SCTQ now is called REMOTE. Is there anything "magical" about this name? My new storage class would be called APPPS3000.
Any advice is welcome! _________________ Cheers,

I think you should be able to do this. I have never seen anything that says this Q needs that particular storage class. Its just a default you get. The manual states Remote is used primarily for transmission queues. It doesn't say XMITQs have to be on it.
Check out the z/OS System Admin Guide "How to balance loads on page sets". It has detailed instructions on how to move a queue to a different storage class. Certain condistions must be met before you attempt the move. _________________ Peter Potkay
