Hi all,

I have a system where by we have two applications (WBIMB Brokers) running on two QMgrs (Broker Qmgrs), these are clustered to a gateway, therefore we load balance by systems connecting to the gateway and messages going to one and then the other broker.

This is fine most of the time, but we are now looking at integrating a request reply system. Therefore for our design to work, we need to be able to write to the transmit queue for the external Qmgr (ReplyToQMgr set by an external QMgr application) from one of the Broker QMgrs.

And the question is this, I do not want to install a channel and transmit queue on the Broker QMgrs, how do I use the transmit queue defined on the gateway itself. I can not change the properties of the transmit queue to a clustered queue, this is not allowed.

Any help will be very much appreciated.

Cheers

Alex

This is pretty well covered in the WMQ CLusters manual, CH 4 How clustes work. One oof the headings is 'Replying to a queue manager outside the cluster'. Generally, this is done by the gateway qmgr publishing a qmgr alias to the rest of the cluster. The details are in the manual.

Hi Nigel,

Thanks for the reference. I did have a look but must have stupidly skipped over this section. Thanks very much for the reply.

Cheers
