Through working with both multiple execution groups and the instances property on the flow in the assignments tab I found I gained some performance by increasing the instances on the flow. The help says that you can set this from 0 to 256 instances. When testing one flow - I set it to 50 instances and I was happy with the performance. I then added another flow to the execution group and set it to 50 instances and the flow won't run. When I set it back to 0 it runs fine. My question is how do you best optimize the instances and are there settings you need to make in the OS to take advantage of this. I am running mqsi 2.02 csd 2 on an aix 4.3.3 box with 6 processors.
thanks but that doesn't tell you how many instances you can really have. As I said, I found that I got improved performance by setting instances to 50 but when I added another flow to that execution group, that new flow wouldn't run until I bumpbed the instances of the OTHER flow to 0. I didn't try other numbers between 0 and 25. There appears to be a threshold and I wondered if there were settings I could make in the OS or what I could look at in the OS to see how these instances were doing with memory or something. The flow errors out - one time the syslog said threads shutting down. The doc said that I could go to up to 256 instances but that does not appear to be accurate.
