I have a sending channel for a qmanager on MVS v1.2 going to a receiving channel on a AIX qmanager v5.1 . The problem is I'm getting a channel sequence mismatch, To rectify this I can reset my sending channel to the seq number the recv channel is looking for. I've also redefined the channel on the mainframe and reset the seq num to 0. These rememdys have not lasted longer than 24hrs.
My subject matter for this post was SYSTEM.CHANNEl.SYNCQ, this queue is defined on both platforms, each queue also has a depth greater than 0 (mvs=55, aix=9), we as a rule do not leave messages on a queue.
Thats my story, here are list of questions I've come up with based on the above conditions:
1. Does anyone know why my channels are going out of sync with the sequence numbers?
2. What puts messages on a SYSTEM.CHANNEl.SYNCQ?
3. What is a SYSTEM.CHANNEl.SYNCQ?
Thanks in advance, as my knowledge in mqseries grows I hope I can provide more feedback in the future. But it's also fishing season and I can't catch fish at my terminal. |

It's used by the queue manager (specifically the CHIN address space) to store sequence numbers for each channel, so that the receiver will remain in sync with the sender and to make sure no messages are lost.
See this chapter in "MQSeries Intercommunication" for a detailed explanation.

If the problem happens frequently, and there are no severe network problems, this is probably a bug. There are quite a few APARs in version 1.2 concerning sequence numbers. Ask IBM support to find them for you.

Thanks for the info, I'll check to see if there is a bug listed by IBM. |
