And one might wonder why would FP8 comes out so fast, on the back of FP7?
FP8 is a performance improvement pak. Not much fixes in it. Precursor to what is coming next... |

Who said it is coming quickly?
Did the announcement have a date of shipment then? |

Integrated and improved publish and subscribe performance for WebSphere MQ V5.3 Fix Pack 8 and for WBI Message Broker Fix Pack 4, planned to be available fourth quarter 2004
PS I am going to try and split this discussion off to general discussion as I want to keep news/updates as clean as possible. _________________ Michael

Sure... But

We do fixpacks every 3-4 months anyway - This is nothing new... 4th quarter could mean 31st Dec...
As far as I am aware, fp8 is 'business as usual' with some extra changes in as per the announcement. |

I never said that I just responded to your second remark about the announcement mentioning a date... _________________ Michael

Sorry guys!,
I got it all wrong. I misread Michael's posting as FP08 out, but it turns out to be 'announced'
If I read it correctly, then I should not have posted the response.

soooooooo you are human too
the interesting thing is that CSD's/FP's started out as 'cummulative bug fixes', no new function was ever in a fix as it might introduce new bugs...
Then at some point in time new function slipped into CSD's/FP's (I think the first occurance was with WMQI 2.1 CSD3).
Now FP's (CSD is no longer an applicable name or does not appeal to the masses...) are announced way ahead of schedule... _________________ Michael

Yes. I guess only MQ uses the name/word CSD where as others use FP. In fact some of my colleagues were confused when we talk about CSD.
About time they change though. That makes it easier for everybody to refer to. |

I believe it was WMQI CSD2 where IBM added bunch of new functions. _________________ Kiran
