Just returned from the Gartner Application Integration & Webservices Summit held in Amsterdam 8-9 June.

lot's of new buzz words like SOBA, SODA, EDA, etc. informative, but a bit too general to my liking...

some tidbits relating to WebSphere MQ:
- on many Gartner slides spoken about IBM ESB as a product, although we all know IBM is cooking something up, no announcements yet.
Additionally the speaker IBM director of On Demand commented: this is not going to take away MQ, but add to it. again ofcourse no details.
[Edit] ... did some googling on IBM and ESB and came up with:
http://www.infoworld.com/article/04/03/26/HNibmesb1_1.html
http://www.computerworld.com.au/index.php/id;1162453954;relcomp;1

- interesting session on BAM (Business Activity Monitoring). One comment of the Gartner speaker was interesting: IBM is gearing up to move into BAM heavily, potentially this could mean MQ the vehicle underneath most messaging implementations (80% market share) could be 'used' to provide information on messages (including content) to BAM tools... again no details.

- another comment regarding the management of services and SLA measurement from a Gartner analyst: IBM may be putting the old ARM (1996) framework into it's business integration portfolio (read MQ and Integration Brokers).
For those who don't know and if my memory serves me correctly ARM stands for Application Response Monitoring which is a set of API's to measure application response times. These API's and protocols should then enable the measurement of end-to-end messaging 'response' times / throughput...

Sounds like interesting times are ahead of us...

I hope some more info will come out of T&M in Las Vegas...
