Hi,

I had a university lecturer who said that laziness can be a good trait in programmers, as they try and write as little code as possible, using things like code reuse.

Well that most comendable attribute came out when I read that acording to IBM's docs, migration from MQSI 2.0.x to 5 is not supported and I would have to migrate to 2.1 then to 5.

I thought, lets try to go from 2.0.x -> 5, see if it works. If not we will have to go via 2.1.

Guess what ... It worked!

Everything imported fine using the tools provided, and any problems encountered where things that would have been a problem importing from 2.1.

I have completed one site and am doing another site now.

In both cases I am not upgrading brokers or config managers, rather importing exports from 2.0.x into 5.

Has anybody else had a similar exprience?

The work was done on Windows NT/2000 with AIX 5.2 and Oracle.

The work included XML transformations, MRMs, large chunks of ESQL and NEON R & F

Regards,
Antony

IBM say its not supported. They didn't say it wouldn't work!

If you encounter any problems, don't expect to be able to call IBM support and get them to help you officially.

You'll have to rely on forums such as this one...
