Hello!
My Problem
I'm not an IBM person and definitely not a MQ expert. However, I'm administering some Windows servers, including databases, etc. One of which has MQseries (server & client) installed and configured. The System has been working as should but since yesterday, there has been a problem.
We having a problem with invalid records coming into the MQqueue. My task is to find the transactions which are causing this and why? My first approach to this problem is to export the data to a flat ASCII file. We can then examine that file with other tools.
Question
So, How do I export MQ messages to a file without damaging the queue?
I appreciate any answer that could help me solve this problem.
Software Info
MQ: MQ Series 5.2.1 for Windows 2000 (server & client)
MQPac: No support pac installed!
Server: Windows 2000, SP4, SQL 2000,
Java: jre 1.4.2

You probably want to use the amqsbcg program to browse the queue.
It should be in <mqinstall-root>\Tools\c\Samples\bin on Windows.
If the samples are installed. _________________ I am *not* the model of the modern major general. |

Very good suggestion..
I have used the command and piped the queues to a file. It seem to be working . I have also installed a shareware (MQ Visual Edit) which seems to satisfy my needs temporily.
Another problem
I have encounter another problem. It seems that I can't see and administrate the queue using the MQSeries Explorer when connected to the server remotely using Windows Terminal Client. The server has Terminal Server installed. Is this a common error/bug and is the there a fix from IBM or Microsoft on this?

I noticed that the output of amqsbcg generates a Hex format. Is there a way to convert to ASCII? _________________ IT Consultant, Developer |

There's an issue with 5.2 and Terminal Services.
You may or may not be able to actually get it to work. If it will work, it will only work if you tell MQExplorer that your Queue Manager is a "Remote" Queue Manager rather than a Local Queue Manager. Hide the queue manager, and then Show it again, but define it as a Remote instead of a Local. _________________ I am *not* the model of the modern major general. |
