Hi,
We have Windows Box with MQ Client 5.2 and a another windows box with MQ Server 5.2, but we have to migrate MQ Server (5.2) box to MQServer 5.3 (CSD5)
But the MQClient box is not in our control.
They use MQCHLLIB and MQCHLTAB environment variable to connect to Server.
We have a problem with Geographical times they work (MQ Client) when we (MQ Server) leave the office .
Since there is a dependency I want to know If
1) I migrate my MQserver5.3 (CSD5) will the MQ Client 5.2 able to connect to it or will there be any issues.
2) I checked the latest version of MQ Client is (MQ5.3 with CSD6).
Now if step 1) works will this combination work ie MQ Client5.3 with CSD6 connecting to MQ5.3 CSD5 or will there be any issues.
Awaiting for your reply

If the upgrade went fine and you are able to successfully start the qm on your side and everything is back to how it was before the upgrade, then there is no reason why the client(MQ) should have any problems. Unless of course, something is changed with respect to the clientconn or svrconn channel defs on the qm side.
Upgrade from one version of MQ to the other is pretty much transparent at the Queue manager(qm objects etc) level.
Cheers

No, as per the last update, any client level should talk successfully to any server level. Part of the initial connection is a negotiation phase where both sides get an understanding of what the other side supports. |

The best I think you'll see is the following in the clients manual (Chapter 2, I think):
Quote: |
Applications on Version 5 clients
A Version 5 client can connect to all queue managers, non-Version 5 as well as Version 5. If you are connecting to a non-Version 5 queue manager, you cannot use Version 5 features and structures in your WebSphere MQ or MQSeries application on the client. |

Hi Jason,
Thanks for your quick Reply.
This has really given me the idea of cross compatibility of MQ Client and MQServer

We upgraded to V5.3 (CSD06) last October and have all flavors of MQ Client V5.0, V5.1, V5.2 and V5.3 connecting to the 5.3 queue managers. We had no issues at all. _________________ Cheers,
