Hi all
I am pretty new to the adapters concept. is it the case that if we use adapters we dont need websphere MQ in the case of either WMQI 2.1 or ICS. also please can anyone tell me wat the architecture looks like(how the applications are connected to the adapter which is either in turn connected to MQ or over the HTTP layer to the ICS) .
Thank you

I think i have to rephrase this question.
1. If we use adapters, then do we still need Websphere MQ? for ICS or WMQI2.1.
2. does anyone have a architectural diagram that shows how ICS, adapter and application are connected
Thank you.

ICS communicates with it's adaptors using CORBA for request/reply processing (ICS -> adaptor -> ICS), events (adaptor -> ICS) can be configured to use either CORBA or JMS. JMS is preferable as it is asynchronous, performs better and allows events to be queued up. WMQ is usually used as the JMS provider.
WMQI communicates with the adaptors via WMQ. The adaptors can be configured to use JMS or native WMQ, only JMS allows the adaptors to be remotely administered. I always use JMS over WMQ.
The adaptor communicates using 7 queues configured in the connector configuration. Events are delivered on one queue, there are 2 in/out queues for admin, asynchronous request and response queues plus synchronous request and response queues.
I would suggest you download the WBI documentation and spend a while reading it, although it is difficult to get to grips with, everything you need is in there. |
