How to stop a message flow when system such as database and remote queue manager are down.
We would like to stop a message flow within the same message flow and reserve all the messages in the input queue when external system is down. In other words, a message flow can stop itself when problem exists.
There is no standard function to do this (it would be a good idea thought and you might want to suggest this to IBM - a function in ESQL for a message flow to stop itself!).
You could get inhibit the queue using a PCF message.
There are a series of articles about MQSI exception processing including how to code a PCF message in the Xephon Journal "MQ Update", Issues Sep 2001, Oct 2001. These are not free but can be purchase from http://www.xephon.com
If you could determine the Uuid for the broker, execution group and message flow then you could issue an XML stop flow message to the MQSI admin queue.
