We're currently using Siebel's EAI MQSeries Server Transport, running on a W2K box with MQSeries Server (V5.3) installed. I'd like to uninstall Server and install MQSeries Client instead (to save the license/maintenance costs).
The Siebel doc states that the AMI transport needs the MQ AMI software installed (category 3 support pac MA0F). However, it doesn't state whether the AMI transport can run with just MQSeries Client and NOT server installed.
Does anyone know?
Thanks,

The AMI does run with MQ Client as well as Server.
But, there has been some discussion on this board about the AMI, as it has an End of Service date posted on the IBM page.

I saw that the end of service was posted as 12/31/05. I thought Category 3 support pacs ususally were "promoted" into the base product before their EOS dates.....
Anyway, thanks for the info about running on MQClient. I'm being advised by someone here (on Siebel support) that I also need to install the AMI on the server where the client connection is heading. I find this hard to believe, but would like to know for sure....
Thanks again,
Larry |

No. You only need the AMI at the point it's being used. Under the covers it translates into 'normal' MQ API's, so to the server it looks just like a 'normal' client connection.
