I have MQSeries 5.1 with the Pub/Sub supportpac installed. I have a queue manager with a couple test queues on it, and I have run the "runmqsc.exe QMGR < MQJMS_PSQ.mqsc" command and it completed without a hitch. What else is absolutely necessary to have pub/sub up and running? JMSAdmin doesn't seem to work unless you have some sort of JNDI hookup running, which I do not. The piece of code that I've been given (this code was presented to us as a small piece of a much larger project, and we cannot change this code) only asks for a Queue Manager name and a Topic name, not a port number or connection channel or anything else. When I try to invoke this object it does connect to the queue manager, but when trying to create a publisher object it dies (the publisher name I gave was that of a queue).
How can I tell MQSeries to treat a queue like a topic, or am I getting my apples and oranges mixed?
I have read through the redbooks and all the other documentation online. I do seem to not have the message broker executables, such as strmqbrk and dspmqbrk - I don't know if this is a problem.
