Here's a good one:
Transmit queue in production that goes from our Hub to our Gateway Queue Manager. Hundreds of thousands of messages have flown thru this XMITQ and corresponding channel over the past 2 dats with no errors. But since 10:45 PM 11-12-2003, the queue depth has been stuck on 2. My guess is uncommited UOW, which soomer or later will cause my circular logs to fill. I guess not a big deal, since in the past I have see MQ gracefully handle this. But the below commands indicate there are no UOW outstanding. What are these 2 messages? And how to get rid of them?
Code: |
E:\>dspmqtrn -m HIGQMA
There are no prepared transactions.

If I use a GUI tool like MO71 or MQExplorer to look at the Queue Usage, I see:
One process (runmqchl.exe) that has the queue open for Input Exclusively. That is the SNDR MCA.
33 processes (AMQRMPPA.EXE) The channels associated with these are the other spoke channels for the Hub, but they are not all different. There are only 5 other spoke channels represented. Each channel name is repeated 5 or 6 times, and with in the group of 5 or 6, each has the same PID and TID. _________________ Peter Potkay

dspmqtrn doesnt show internal transactions. Chances are you have a channel in doubt so we dont know what to do with them? |

The Sys Admin guide says that this command shows both internal and external UOWs.
Quote: |
Note: If you specify neither -e nor -i, details of both internally and externally
coordinated in-doubt transactions are displayed.
|
I did try running the command with the -i parameter with the same results.
No channels are in doubt on this QM. _________________ Peter Potkay

Turns out this was a damaged queue. The next time the QM was restarted, the queue was tagged as damaged and we had problems.
If you see a queue with a depth of 0, and there is absolutly no other explanation, look out! This happened at 5.3 CSD04 by the way, on Windows 2000. _________________ Peter Potkay
