I've never had too much to do with licensing. But now I'm trying to understand how the licensing reporting actually works. Searching the forum, I couldn't find any clear answer.
Googling and searching the knowledge center brought me to the point to understand that there is a License metric tool. But trying to read up on it raises more questions then it answers.
For example how ist the license data colleted ? are there any specific files in /var/mqm ? is there a process sending it to the metric inventory tool ? Are the reports from the inventory and metric tool send by email to IBM ? or how do the know the reports are legitimate ?
Any pointers welcome.
Regards,

There is an IBM License Metric Tool, but it needs to be installed on your servers if you want to use it. AFAIK, it covers all IBM software products licensing. For MQ, it calculates and reports PVU related metrics for each server. However, your licensed PVU capacity, how your usage is officially calculated, and the cost, is negotiated in a confidential agreement with your IBM account rep. (Disclaimer: I am not an IBM employee) _________________ Glenn |
