Hi,
We have hub/spoke architecture with MQ running on several NT servers that are connected to MQ running on Z/OS in a non-cluster environment. There is only one XMITQ and channel between the NT machines and Z/OS.
We occassionally see a slow-down in the message transmission during peak hour volume and build-up of messages in XMITQs on NT servers.
Is there any short-term solution before we build a cluster to address this issue ?
I'm guessing either the network or the disk IO on the Z/OS box. (Are you using persistent mesages?)
Have you checked that there is sufficent network capacity to support the data volumes you are transmitting at peak times? If not it might be worth looking at the channel batch size and batch interval parameters to reduce communication overhead. Maybe bigger batches and a longer interval?
