what CFLEVEL value on a CFSTRUCT definition is required that will allow a CF structure to expand if the CFRM policy has ALLOWAUTOALT(YES) on the structure definition? We have CFLEVEL(3) and the structure did not expand as anticipated...there were no error messages and there is plenty of space available in the CF. I'm beginning to think CFLEVEL(5) is required although I cannot find any doc on it. thanks. |

I can't find anything that states the CFLEVEL requirement either, but I did find one example (in MP16) showing CFLEVEL(4) used with ALLOWAUTOALT(YES).
Cheers,

Really? You're at CFLEVEL(3)? 3 is quite old.
https://www.ibm.com/support/knowledgecenter/en/SSLTBW_2.4.0/com.ibm.zos.v2r4.ieaf100/cfopl.htm contains this:

PR/SM Planning Guide provides information about the functions available with each CFLEVEL of a coupling facility, model-dependent limits, and other characteristics such as performance, storage allocation, and operations. |

To be precisely: CFLEVEL(3) came with MQv5.3 and allows only messages less than 63 kB size.
The next levels are:
- CFLEVEL(4) - came with MQv6 and allows messages up to 100 MB (stored in DB2).
- CFLEVEL(5) - came with MQv7.1 and allows messages up to 100 MB (stored in DB2 or SMDS).
- CFLEVEL(19) - came with MQv8 and allows messages up to 100 MB (stored in DB2, SMDS or SCM). _________________ Regards

There are hardware and z/OS VRM support considerations. There are higher CFLEVELs than 19. _________________ I like deadlines. I like to wave as they pass by.

Yes, but I mentioned the minimum CFLEVELs, to handle messages of the described size and persistency, and the MQ version, where these have been introduced.
To complete the list: CFLEVEL 1 and 2 came with MQv5.2 and allowed only non-persistent messages up to 63 kB. CFLEVEL higher than 2 allow persistent messages too. _________________ Regards
