Hi,

I want to preface that I know MQSeries v5.3 moderately.

With that said - I am working on a project where the IT group is not going to allow any unix id's (running on Sun) for anyone on our team to be part of the mqm group. Even in our development environment.

Is there a group with security that will allow for us to be able to:

* put messages on queues
* get messages off of queues
* allowing triggering functionality to work properly
* clear the queues

On my last project when a user was not part of the mqm group - and that user put a message on a queue with triggering configured - triggering didn't work as the user didn't have the proper permissions. Trying to ensure we avoid that problem - as well as any problem that may occur with putting, getting, and clearing messages.

Thanks in advance for any help.
Robin

I don't think there is a preconfigured group with those permissions, no.

But your admins can create a development group, and use setmqaut to assign priviledges to MQSeries for that group to meet the needs you have.

You'll need priviledges set on both specific queues and the queue manager.

Plus, the user id that is running the trigger monitor will need all the normal permissions to access any programs or non-mq resources that may be needed.

A few questions for clarification....

The admins are newer to MQSeries than I am - which isn't a great thing.

We're hunting down info on setmqaut right now - thanks!

Re: "the user id that is running the trigger monitor will need all the normal permissions to access any programs or non-mq resources that may be needed."

what mq related permissions does that included? If I remember right - triggering requires access to certain MQ directories....

Thanks again!
