We got a requirement to place a file in shared location from FileOutputNode in IIB10.
Shared location star with '\\'
Example : \\xxx\iib\shared\path\
xxx -> server ip or server name |

What happens when you try it?
What happens when you mount the drive, instead of trying to access it directly? _________________ chmod -R ugo-wx / |

mqjeff, in FileOutputNode, I hardcoded full shared location path
Ex : \\xxx\iib\shared\path\
Throwing an error.
Our System Admins are not willing to provide mount point. We have some other interfaces working on mount point, there is no issue with that. So finally they provide us shared path to place outfile. |

You can transfer the file using FTP/SFTP/FTPS to another server, rather than using shared drives.
Possibly better and faster to map the drive in advance and then use a drive letter to reference it. _________________ Well, I don't think there is any question about it. Zpat, is there any possibility by FileOutNode? Some how we need to place file in shared location. I strongly believe, that can do by external Java but researching on feasibility through IIB FileNodes. |

What error?

Only if the external Java can resolve the \\xxx host name. In the same way it only works in the FileOutput node if the path can be resolved. _________________ Honesty is the best policy.

Why won't they mount this, if they're prepared to mount others? _________________ Honesty is the best policy.

Did you confirm the user running the IIB service had access to \\xxx\iib\shared\path\ ? _________________ chmod -R ugo-wx / |

Thanks all. Finally our network team has agreed to create mount point. As per my research, I believe shared path cannot be assigned to FileOutputNode in IIB/MB. We can achieve this by calling external java. |

Do not call Java. This is totally the wrong way to use IIB.
In any case, the IIB file output node is coded in Java.
If you have the storage mounted, the IIB node will be able to use it, providing the broker id has access.
There is, of course, the <sarcasm>radical</sarcasm> option of actually trying it. _________________ Well, I don't think there is any question about it. It can only be attributable to human error. This sort of thing has cropped up before, and it has always been due to human error. |

All you need is the mount point.
That has to be visible to the user that IIB is running under.
And that the IIB user has authorities to. Including the directories you need. _________________ chmod -R ugo-wx / |
