I would like to understand if there is any negative or performance impact if one defines the maximum threshold for the queue properties "Max queue depth" & "Max message length" while defining the queue in an environment. Please note that this threshold is not reached during normal and peak operations.
Space is not reserved in advance, if that is what you mean.
The main use for these values is to protect your queue storage space against rogue applications.
However the DLQ can mean the same space is taken anyway.
The max message length should never be reached as it indicates a programming design issue.
These days the 4MB default looks low, but if increasing it - don't forget to increase it on all related channels, DLQ, xmit queues and so on. _________________ Well, I don't think there is any question about it. It can only be attributable to human error. This sort of thing has cropped up before, and it has always been due to human error.
