I have a cluster consisting of 3 full repository queue managers (I know the recommendation is 2) and one partial queue manager. Two of the FR queue managers correctly have auto explicit cluster-sender channels defined to the others, but the third has one auto cluster-sender channels. Do I need to create the auto explicit cluster-sender channels on the third in order for that queue manager to receive cluster information? If these queue managers were new, I'd have created them. I'm just not sure what to do after the fact. |

Repent! Repent your heresy!
For there are 2 and only 2 full repository queue managers; never shall you define 3 and you shall only define 1 on your way to defining the second.

So even if you'd followed the recommendation you'd have the partial repository surrounded and outnumbered; do you expect it to come out with it's hands up and surrender?
Why this rather odd (and cumbersome) topology for such a very small cluster?

Yes. You need manually defined cluster channels linking all 3 repositories. Which with more than 2 FRs rapidly negates the value of a cluster.

If I found a cluster like this, it would probably have an embarrassing and entirely unavoidable accident that allowed it to be redefined properly.

None of the FRs know if they're new or old. _________________ Honesty is the best policy.

Thanks Vitor for the informative and hilarious response. With this, I'll either just demote the third FR or create the channels to make it a proper FR, leaning towards the former. |

Just consider yourself lucky that Vitor didn't offer to scrub you down with a yard brush _________________ It's puzzling, I don't think I've ever seen anything quite like this before...and it's hard to soar like an eagle when you're surrounded by turkeys. |

Since you have this unfortunate configuration, you cannot know if your cluster is fragmented (which it certainly is).
Demote all FRs but one to which the other three have explicit CLUSSDR channels to it. Then REFRESH CLUSTER(bla) REPOS(YES) at the three PRs.
Then pick one Qmgr to be the second FR but first define an explicit CLUSSDR from FR1 to the Qmgr that will be FR2. Now promote the second Qmgr to be FR2.
Only this way can you be sure the two FRs match (and they need to match).
Last point: If the two FRs are only FRs and have no application queues, then they are highly available without you doing anything else and you should never have to touch them again except for upgrades (which FRs should always be the first to be upgraded).
If your employer will not allow you to do this then:
Hop on the bus, Gus. Make a new plan Sam. Drop off the key Lee. Just get yourself free. |
