Hi,
We are doing a migration of source code (Not Broker migration) from WMB v6.0 to IIB v9.0.0.5. In WMb v6.0 they have used IA9C support pac in few of the flows.
Is this support pac available in IIB v9.0? As far as what I searched for, I dint find any mention of IA9C being available in IIB v9. It is available only till WMB v8 (Checked Here) |

some of the functionality in the support pack seems to have migrated to the main product.

Dynamically reference the runtime broker, message-flow, execution group and other names, within a message flow, with out having to modify ESQL code.

Have you...
1) Tried to contact the author?
2) Tried it on V9? or V10? After all it is just some java.
Depending on what your existing flows use the Support pack for, you may have to write some Java of your own to replicate its functionality in later versions of IIB. _________________ WMQ User since 1999

True. We can check what is being done using the support pack and replace them with native functions if possible. But I just wanted to know if the support pack itself comes in IIB v9 as well.

I have not contacted the author. Will do that. I tried deploying the support pack JAR to IIB v9 toolkit and no use in it.

Agreed. But just wanted to check if its still available. Also will have to see if all of the functions done by the support pack is available out-of-box now. |

Out of interest, why are you moving to IIB9 rather than IIB10 ? _________________ Independent Middleware Consultant

Because the organisation has many other applications running on IIB v9 currently (in a stable manner) and they dint want to move to a newer version. |

It's extremely likely that you can get anything you got from IA9C using a Java compute node - or a Java procedure. _________________ chmod -R ugo-wx / |

That is true but compared to adding a node to a flow using Java for anything is a complete 'faff' and prone to problems as is evidenced by the number of posts we get about Java related things here.
I'm sure that Vitor will agree with me on this.
Even today, Java is about my last language of choice and I've even got a cert in ADA development somewhere. Even .Net is a better dev lang than most Java ones and I'm not known for my love of anything to come out of Redmond.
Personally, I forsee Java declining in popularity now that Oracle are going after users for hefty license fees. I know that won't affect many of us but the perception of Java is changing, certainly in the Makerspace that I go to from time to time.
Just my worthless 2p on the subject so my rants can be ignored. _________________ WMQ User since 1999

I suggested a java procedure because it's not a new node.
I agree with what you've said about Java. But COBOL is still around.
.NET is great, as long as it can run on the platform you're running IIB.
Java is the easiest way to access the system level (OS, and etc.) environments. _________________ chmod -R ugo-wx / |

Agreed with the logic of using a Java procedure to access the required details. Even I would prefer that approach in place of a Node.
But given that, it is a As-Is migration, I was interested to know if IA9C is compatible in IIB v9. I could it released only till WMB v8. But when I improted that pack and deployed in IIB v9 Broker and Toolkit, I can see it working as expected. Hence we can use it as it is, without much of code changes. |
