The technical content seems OK, but the English is not good enough for learning materials. There are many grammatical errors and expression errors on every page, making it hard to follow. It looks like it has been written by people who don't have English as their first language or don't particularly care about how they write. Sorry if I seem harsh. At least the intention and coverage of material is very good. _________________ Glenn |

Yeah, I would have to agree with you. I too reviewed a bunch of pages and scratched my head about the grammar. That is why I didn't do a write up on my blog, as I just cannot recommend it.

Hi,
I am one of the contributors for the MQ content on ABClearn site.
The point is noted and for sure will upgrade the language. Apologies for that.
I have learned a lot @mqseries forum. Of course, I am a passive user here. But, want to contribute my understanding on MQ in the best the way possible.
Please feel free to comment on the content on the right side of the page in ABClearn site.
Shall be back to this post after upgrading MQ content. Stay tuned.
Cheers... |

Thanks for your response. I suggest that you engage a colleague who has English as their first language to review and correct the content before it is published. _________________ Glenn |

From your website:
Quote: |
Topics Summary
1. How to increase the MAXDEPTH property of a local queue?
2. What are the best practices to follow, when we increase queue MAXDEPTH value? or Things to keep in mind before changing the MAXDEPTH value of a production local queue?
a). What is going to be the maximum size of messages expected into this queue?
b). What is the Avg message size that is expected to this queue?
c). Some statistics like, how good are the messages flow rate into the queue and out of the queue? |
Technical writing should be clear and precise.
a) and b) are seem to be about maximum message length, and not about maximum queue depth.
c) Your meaning of "how good" is not precise or clear. Exactly and precisely what is "good?" Is "good" a numeric value? Is it a relationship? How is "good" to be observed and measured? _________________ I like deadlines. I like to wave as they pass by.

Remember to never write a technical document as if you are speaking to a colleague (colloquial).
You write a technical document as if you are a dictator!!
i.e.
- Field 'mm' allows values 1,2,3,4 & 5
- To do 'abc' then you must perform 'xyz'
- etc.
Do not use words like should, may, really, stuff, things, believe, feel, think, very, etc.

Thank you all for your inputs.
I am learning a lot on how to write the things.I have started taking others help too in nurturing the content.
I always kept basic learners in mind and put it in general language so that they can feel that they are learning from colleagues and from their experiences.
I have corrected few mistakes in earlier content and pushed basic MQI calls.
http://www.abclearn.com/courses/websphere-mq/mq-basics/websphere-mq-mqi-mqclose-call.
I am working on installation part to upgrade it.
Thanks all for your guidance. I will note down your points and try to improve. |

There are books on the subject of technical writing. _________________ I like deadlines. I like to wave as they pass by.
