Exactly what do you intend to monitor?

Did you search here for monitoring+mq? Did you search Google?

Look into amqsmon. It's a sample program supplied with MQ.

Has anyone already tried NetFlexity QFlex as MQ monitoring tool ?
I took ages before I received a test license key.
And the documentation for the installation was a disaster.

Have you tested this product? What were your results?

We use Qflex Express version. We monitor WebSphere MQ (some aspects are listed below) using this, and we configured alert emails and recovery actions as applicable for these events.

1. Queue depths (recovery action on our log queues is to back them up to a file and clean the queue. For application queues, we receive an alert email with Queue name, current depth etc. so that support person gets to look why the messages are not being processed from this queue).

2. Open input count on certain queues (certain critical processes are expected to always run and poll on a few queues. Zero input count indicates no one is polling that queue which is an alert for us).

3. Connection counts on channels (we have client-server based communication involving SVRCONN channels; if a client application is running too many instances of their program resulting in more than expected number of connections, we get alerted and take action so that the max limit on channel/ QM are not reached).

We are pretty satisfied with this product over past one year that we used it; we are looking at using latest version - 3.5.5 - of this product to take benefit of more features.

By the way, I don't recall any hurdles being faced while our developers worked with SA/DBA to install this on a HP-UX ia64 platform and relevant database on an Oracle on RedHat Linux 4.8.

Regards,
MB

BMS/QPasa! is hardly FREE. The last time I worked with it was at least $250,000.
The customer took a look at the quote and laughed. That was the cost of their entire MQ estate.

Every time you reinvent the wheel the more square it gets (anon). If in doubt think and investigate before you ask silly questions.

We are still offering a free version for monitoring MQ, although IIB support and advanced QOS monitoring features are disabled.

Feel free to download and play with it.
