I am using IIB V9 on linux. Our IIB just joint 2 clusters (C1, C2) which are not administer by our team. We are in a planning session for a new message flow which uses MQOUTPUT to a destination list. The target of the Output is to any one of the 1000 Qmgrs in the clusters. Of course the other team will ensure the correct definition of the cluster Q and IIB Qmgr will know where to deliver the message because it is also a member of the clusters.
The question we have is do we have to restart the message flow when there is some clustering information changes on the target Q. For example the target Q's Qmgr is moved from cluster C1 to C2 (we are doing a lot of upgrading and migration work, so moving Qmgrs between old and new cluster is happening all the time). My understanding is the MF will cache MQ open handle and information after name resolution. If path to the target is cached, then we need to restart the message flow every time the other team move QMgr between clusters. Is that true ?
Why should it be? You need however to correctly follow the procedure to remove a queue manager from a cluster before moving it to the new cluster.
This means to first remove all the qmgr objects from the old cluster and finally remove the qmgr from the old cluster... And consider the time the change needs to propagate throughout the cluster...
