Hi,

I have a java application which connects to a
mainframe system using MQSeries.

I am not using JMS.

This application was working fine with Websphere
Application server V3.5.

Now, we are in the process of migrating to Webshphere
Application Server V5.

I have installed Websphere Studio application
developer(WSAD) V5 and am testing with that.

When I try to connect using MQSeries, I get the
exception

MQJE001: An MQException occurred: Completion Code 2,
Reason 2009
MQJE025: Channel closed after two initial changes.
Closure reason {0}
MQJE001: Completion Code 2, Reason 2009

A call to
new MQQueueManager( "//QueueManagerString" ) fails.

But When I try to run the same code outside WSAD, as a
stand alone program, it connects and am able to put
messages into the Queue.

I was wondering, is direct connection using MQSeries
still supported in Webphere V5 or is JMS usage is
mandatory ?

I am using the latest version of MQ. ie Websphere MQ
V5.3

Can someone please give me some info on this.

Thanks and Regards,
Priyatham.

As far as I know, if you are using base MQ and not JMS, then there should not be any difference if you are running your app in either version of WAS. Atleast this is true for WAS 4.0 and WAS 5.0

Are you running this app under WSAD or WAS?

My guess would be that you are using jar files from inside of WSAD that came with MA88 and not with WMQ 5.3. Using JMS isn't mandatory.

Heyy...
Thanks a lot. It works. WSAD had old mq jar files.
actually WSAD V5.0 comes with MQ jars version 5.3 I just checked the manifest file in the com.ibm.mq.jar file

I got the latest Websphere MQ V5.304 from IBM website.
I renamed the old jar files and used the latest ones.
It works. I am able to connect to mainframe using base MQ classes.

Thanks,
Priyatham.
