But the OP has suggested that this is all done via a WebService.
So transactionality goes right out of the window pretty much right from the word go.
This all seems like some of the 'Requirements' we get posted here from time to time. Some of these are clearly dreamed up by people who might have had exposure to Broker back when it was a mere shadow of what it is today. (I am being generous here)
The general concensus from those who frequent this place that this way of doing DB access is wrong and outmoded. That said, if that is the only way they have of doing it then and because it might be a 'Jobsworth'[1] who can't be shown up then it might be time for a Gallic Shrug and just getting on with it.
For those who don't know.
[1] Jobsworth means basically someone saying 'It is more than my job is worth to let you do that' when they stop you doing something totally logical. Usually said by some low ranking civil servant (or local gov) employee, security guard etc etc. _________________ WMQ User since 1999

Every time you reinvent the wheel the more square it gets (anon). If in doubt think and investigate before you ask silly questions. |

In cases where the database interactions are complex (not supported via the database retrieve, mapping nodes), and a preference to use Java instead of ESQl, the choice comes down to using a JCN v/s and MDB... I think in such cases MDB wins .. _________________ Regards |

This whole question reminds me of an attitude expressed by a long-ago poster, who found himself in a position of being asked to leave the forum..
In making any kind of real decision between WAS and IIB, I'd really want to run performance comparisons - including resource utilization on the DB.
Also, the thread pool for JDBC is entirely different for the thread pool for ESQL in broker. Unless you use the java functions to use the ODBC connection.
So in general, they are entirely different things. |

I'd certainly, were I to find myself on the kind of site the OP describes, want to take a fairly deep dive into why the site wanted it done like that. _________________ Honesty is the best policy.
