MQ 5.3
WSAS 5.0
Having both WebSphere products on the same box works fine.
But can you have WSAS connect to MQ on a separate box? I can make direct connections to the QMgr but I want to use the QCF from MQ JMS Provider.
Currently, when I use the MQ JMS Provider (qcf), my java application gives back NameNotFound for the jndi name.
Is this problem because MQ and WSAS are on separate boxes, or a simpler/different issue?
Thanks in advance. Linus |

I just gave this a quick try. I have two boxes. One box has WSADIE on it with a WAS 5 test server. The server has an MDB running in it that has a listener port that uses a QCF and Q. The QCF is setup as a WebSphere MQ resource. It points to the second box which has my Qmgr on it. When I defined the QCF, I had to give it a port, channel, hostname, queue manager, and transport of CLIENT. I explicitly gave values to all fields. I could have probably taken defaults on some of them, but I wanted to make sure the MDB was going to the second machine.
I think the name not found error has nothing to do with the MQ being remote. When your server comes up, you should see it bind names into the namespace. I'd double-check this to make sure that your resource is actually getting bound. If you don't see it, I'd go back into the Admin Console and double-check that it is there. |
