Hey All,

I was just wondering if there's a way we can use a variable to replace to actual value for any of the WMB node's properties..?

For Ex:

I have a UDP value set in myUDP = DEV in one of the message flows. I want to use this myUDP in the DataSource property of a compute node such a way that it can resolve to DEV (Perhaps {myUDP}-doesn't work). Not sure if I can do this...also haven't seen a mention on this in infocenter.

I did see we can use such varibles for the Short/Long Description properties of a message flow, but this doesn't seem to work some specific properties of a node (like DataSource property)?

Looking forward for your thoughts... Thanks.

No

But whatever you're using to set the UDP to a given value based on what environment the flow is running in can just as easily set the node property prior to deployment, and achieve exactly the result you're looking for.

Thanks Vitor.
Yes I can do that, but I was just checking for another possibility

If it is 'datasource' property which needs to be modified during run time. then ESQL DB Call statements support providing variables for datasource and schema.

Have you looked at promoting the property to the flow?
If you have multiple nodes that all need to use the same DB, you can promote the property to the flow and set it only once...

If multiple subflows are supposed to take on the value from the main flow, you may have to promote twice, once to the subflow level, once from the subflow to the flow level...
