Hello everybody,

We are supporting performance testing of message flows running on wmb 8. The tool we are using is Enterprise Test Robot. This tool was awesome until Friday as the only requirement we had from client was to capture the server capacity in terms of transactions per sec (tps) meaning capture the tps count when server hits 90% utilization.

Now client came up with a valid question "what was the transaction interval (duration of picking the message from queue + transform the message + put message to destination queue) when the CPU utilization was 90%?" I say this valid because the server may be processing an expected number of transactions but if its taking too much time to respond, the purpose is still defeated. Our SLAs are in milliseconds. So transaction time is indeed crucial.

I tried the Flow statistics through MB Explorer but wasn't useful as it overwrites data and doesn't capture transaction interval. So we are trying to establish a method to capture the transaction interval but are indeed running out of ideas. We can't use any other tools as client is not willing to purchase license.

Please suggest how best this might be accomplished. Thanks in advance.

Wrong it does capture the transaction time. Look at total elapsed time, time waiting on queue, etc... it may not capture the exact time for a given transaction but the min, max, avg within a 20s interval is pretty close.

There is a way to capture the individual transaction but it comes at a cost... and you are looking to shave miliseconds off the timing already...

Have a look as IS03 support pack

http://www-01.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?uid=swg24030716

with this tool you can get metrics of a single node in the message flow and export the values to csv to analyze and graph in other tools.
