Hi,
I'm quite new with IIB and WMB. And I'm trying to understand how to make correct backup of IIB and its components in multi-instance configuration.
As I understand mqsibackupbroker command is used to backup message broker configuration.
Do I need additionally backup MQ configuration with dmpmqcfg command?
As I understand to make correct backup which I can use for recovery, I need to do next backups:
1. make filesystem backup, when all components are stopped (MQ and MB) - binaries and shared folder
2. when system running make dmpmqcfg to save MQ configuration data
3. when system running make mqsibackupbroker to save broker configuration.
Is it correct? |

Pretty much correct, although you can run mqsibackupbroker with the brokers stopped if you want.
If you want to recover message data, you would need to actually backup the queue manager data/logs (in which case the configuration backup is not actually needed but still a good idea).
In a sense it's a choice - if you recover the entire file system - you remove the need to recreate the QM and broker.
However if objects are corrupted, then re-creation might be the better way to proceed. _________________ Well, I don't think there is any question about it. It can only be attributable to human error. This sort of thing has cropped up before, and it has always been due to human error. |
