HI ALL.
I am trying to use MQ Sereis CLUSTER architecture for my current project.
Current System
=========
MQ Manager Q1 at window server, with alll Queues,channel etc.
MQ Manager Q2 at iSeries server, with alll Queues,channel etc.
Requirnment.
========
Change Current Ssytem to MQ Sereis CLUSTER architecture
Concept.
=====
I understood the concept of cluster & benefits.
ARCHITECTURE
==========
I have seen lots of manuals, all is giving example for same server.
So if i want to change the current System to Clustering.
Question in my mind?
.Where to define the cluster , Qmanagers in Window or iseries etc.
I request here to everybody, please answer me the definations for each server.
THANKS IN ADVANCE. |

Not much of a cluster with just two queue managers, so any others in the mix?

Are you sure? (see below)

Because it's easier to practice the use of clusters when you do everything on one box.

You don't define a cluster as such, you define cluster attributes in each queue manager, and each queue manager becomes a member of a logical entity that is referred to as a 'queue manager cluster'. Where queue managers, which are cluster members, are platformed is generally irrelevant - they're where they need to be.

They're all in the Knowledge Centre, just substitute your required values for CONNAMEs etc. _________________ It's puzzling, I don't think I've ever seen anything quite like this before...and it's hard to soar like an eagle when you're surrounded by turkeys. |

hi,
Thanks for reply in details.
1.What are the project requirements, e.g. High-Availability, shared work-load etc.?
Ans : its both,
actually its Image Cheque clearing system , and we have 3 modules, so i am planning to use sperate Queue for each, hence i defined seprate remote q, channles , tmq.
But problem i am facing when starting channel, i can start one channel at time, if i try to start 2nd channel its givng error.
2.Not much of a cluster with just two queue managers, so any others in the mix?
Ans: you are correct its not a complexed system, but i said above, i want to avoid channel issue, hence can directly put the message to nNumber of Queues.
3.Are you sure? (see below)
Ans:I am not able to apply the concept of clustering.
4.Because it's easier to practice the use of clusters when you do everything on one box.
Ans: you are correct,.
5.You don't define a cluster as such, you define cluster attributes in each queue manager, and each queue manager becomes a member of a logical entity that is referred to as a 'queue manager cluster'. Where queue managers, which are cluster members, are platformed is generally irrelevant - they're where they need to be
Ans : So can you advice some solution for my issue of channel, so i can skip the cluster
Regards

May I humbly suggest that you really should employ someone who knows what they are doing when it comes to MQ Clusters. You have to make a very resilient and available system and it seems fairly obvious that you need some help that is beyond the remit of this forum.
Get one to help you build your system and learn from their experience. _________________ WMQ User since 1999

Every time you reinvent the wheel the more square it gets (anon). If in doubt think and investigate before you ask silly questions. |

If you're trying to use multiple channels and xmitqs in a normal distributed set up, then there's a problem with your understanding. If you're trying to do this in a clustered set up there's a major problem with your understanding.

As I said above, if you have the channel issue you describe you're doing it wrong.

Well there's the truth, and I really don't think you have the understanding you think you have of this subject.

Set up your distributed environment correctly. Review your proposed architecture and ensure you have it right. Hint: you only need 1 channel in each direction between 2 queue managers, and maybe not in both directions. _________________ Honesty is the best policy.
