Is it possible to get event messages when a Qmgr starts using secondary logs?
I would like some warning before it runs out of log file space. Usually, I rely on file system monitoring to tell me when it is getting full. Unfortunately, in this case I have two Qmgrs sharing the file system and so it may run out of logs long before it exhausts space on the file system. |

AFAIK, No
You could monitor the number of file in the directory. When it exceeds the number of prim logs, your are using secondary logs.
Of course, the total file system size should always exceed the max space that could be used by all prim and sec logs combined! _________________ Glenn |

Best Practice is for each Qmgr:
- separate the data path to a unique file system (done on crtmqm with -md)
- separate the log path to a unique file system (done on crtmqm with -ld)
- allocate enough primary logs to fill 70% of log file system
- account for enough secondary to almost fill the rest of log file system

I think Logging Events would be interesting. Event when a new Linear Log is cut, or when a Secondary Circular is needed, or etc, etc, etc.
I don't have a dire need for them, but would vote for an RFE for them if such an RFE existed... _________________ Peter Potkay
