What do we need to infer if we see some new updates in /var/mqsi/common/locks |

That WMB is using it's internal file space because it wants to.
Are there any errors or issues associated with this that's making you look into this? _________________ Honesty is the best policy.

Yes Vitor. I was trying to run a trace and there was no response. It is in hung state. Was checking the logs to see if there was any issue with broker or EG. Then I noticed that there some updates in the lock file |

Locks are used to serialize on son-shareable resources. The lock must be acquired before the resource can be used. A lock is usually represented by a word in storage, but may be stored on disk for persistence. Most server apps use locks- db2, oracle, mq, etc.. _________________ I like deadlines. User trace? Service trace?
So as my worthy associate confirms, the locks directory is used by WMB because it wants to.
I would theorise one of the resources involved either couldn't be locked or couldn't be released. Was the server under particular load at the time? What other software runs on the server which could be contending with WMB? Is it all attempts to run a trace that fail, or only a trace against a specific flow? _________________ Honesty is the best policy.

It was a user trace against a single flow. We do not have any other softwares running on the machine other than MQ and MB. Server was running normally. |

If the problem persists, open a PMR. _________________ I like deadlines. I like to wave as they pass by.

Can you successfully trace other flows? _________________ Honesty is the best policy.
