Hello all,
I am running MQ v7.0.1.10 on AIX. It interfaces with a DB2 environment, where stored procedures processes the MQ messages.
The configuration is as follows (select * from sysmql.listeners):
1 queue manager: imp
1 configuration: run24x7
20+ input queues.
For whatever reasons, it happens that an input queue becomes unresponsive. We then bounce back the whole configuration (24x7), which stops the processes for all 20+ input queues.
Questions:
1) is there a command that would allow only to restart the listener for the sole input queue that has a problem? Could not find any reference to that.
2) if not, what would be the way to better manage the problem. One configuration per input queue? If that is the case, is there a procedure that is available to do that configuration change?
Thank you for your answers.

It appears that the application that is reading that queue is the problem. Have you tried restarting just that application?
If it is due to a problem message then you really need to make sure that the application is begaving properly and not just blocking because of what we call a 'poison message'.
It sounds like you don't have a lot of MQ expertise at your site. _________________ WMQ User since 1999

Every time you reinvent the wheel the more square it gets (anon). If in doubt think and investigate before you ask silly questions. |

The DB2 provided MQ listener is supported by DB2, so please check with those folks if you have not already done so. It "should" be possible to restart just the stored procedure that is having the problem - like any other application. But I am just an MQ person, the nuances of DB2's behavior are above my pay grade.
Also have you checked the DB2 logs to see if there are errors reported from the SP? That could given additional insight into real problem. |
