Hi Team,
I am a novice in feild of configurations!
I have succfully installed mysql management studio 2008. Created a database, table and stuff.
Now to play with this database from message broker, i need a DSN.
When i create a DSN, i cannot test the DSN at the time of its creation.
I have installed the reuired drviers and stuff.... tried google on it, localhost, 127.0.0.1, port 1433 and all.... the DSN window just doenst show any database on mySql. i should be raising this concern in MySql area i konw, but just thought if any one good with this issue please?

Which version of Broker are you using?
Is your chose DB one of those supported by this version of broker for ODBC connections?
Is it supported for JDBC connections?

Message broker 8. i downloaded the trial version. the debuggeer, samples (not using any database) are all running perfeclt yfine... s trying to get a DB connected so that i can learn the database oriented samples also!

What I meant was...
does the IBM documentation stated that your chosen Database is one of those supported for ODBC connections?
If it is, did you create a System DSN and not a user DSN?

Yes, i just confirmed it! MySqlServer is supported by message broker v8

I created a User DSN as a System DSN, the Windows system says as you are logged in with Non Administrative privlages, you are not allowed to create a system DSN.
Now my Windows has gone crazy, as i have no user account in my laptop! I just have one single account and that is ADMINISTRATOR!

You need to right click the icon and do run as administrator.
It is called running under elevated privileges. (or RAA Running As Admin)

Yep, i did the same! Still stuck at the same point!
Between as a i said, there is no user account. there is just one single account on my laptop, and that is ADMIN! anyways...i did try your idea almost 100 times...still no luck! |

Poobah,
1. Whenever i enter the tab system DSN, windows shows a pop up- since you are logged in with non admin privlages, you cannot create a SYSTEM DSN.
2. Despite this popup, i am able to create a DSN after i click ok on the pop up window.
3. when i test this dsn from the SYSTEM DSN creation window, its not succesfull.
Anyways, am now trying with Oracle database with sqldeveloper. Will revert back.

So, as my associate pointed out, you're not running with elevated rights, despite the user being called "ADMIN". Which is the same as being called "BINGO" is the rights it conveys.

Yes, but not a SYSTEM one as the popup pointed out.

Because you didn't create a SYSTEM DSN! Shock!!!

In the belief you'll have more luck creating a SYSTEM DSN without the necessary Windows rights for Oracle than you did creating a SYSTEM DSN without the necessary Windows rights for MySQL?

As i said, there is no user account in my laptop. The only account is the ADMINISTRATOR!
Although the link i just gave is for one smart guy running Windows Server 2008 (with Service Pack 2), it works exaclty same for Windows 7 ultimate!
And the good news it that Oracle database has now been set up! Tables are good, and Yes, The SYSTEM DSN has been tested succesfull...Hurrayyyyyy 
And now its time to play with this database from Message broker!

Hi guys,
System DSN is showing a succesfull test connection in the system DSN creation window.
Now i executed this command on broker console:

| mqsisetdbparms <brokername> -n <SYSTEM DSN NAME> -u <DB user name> -p <DB Password> |
and then i tried to execute this peice of esql code from a compute node specifiying the Data source name at the compute node property:

orcl is the TNS service name.
And got this exception.

The above comment from me, i just figured out from a sample, that i need not give the TNS name.
now i wrote
