I have a client with a lot of WMBv6 code that calls maps directly from ESQL using the CALL statement. They are upgrading to WMBv8. The msgmaps (which compile to ESQL) are now replaced by Graphical Maps (which compile to Java).

They can convert the msgmaps into maps but then they won't be able to call them from the code that they have. Is there any way to call a v8 map from ESQL or Java? As it is Java can it be called as an External Function from ESQL?

Alternately is there any way to continue to develop/edit msgmaps in v8? The docs say that they are viewable, compilable and deployable but not modifiable, but is there a sneaky Hursley-style flag to disable read-only mode?

Thanks,

Damian.

Don't think so.

Worth reviewing changes in 8.0.0.2 to see if calling maps from ESQL is now possible.
