I have some questions regarding the JMS servers in WSAD :
according to the help there are :
- Installing WebSphere embedded messaging as the JMS provider
- Installing WebSphere MQ as the JMS provider
- generic JMS provider
on the help of "Installing WebSphere embedded messaging as the JMS provider" it says :
- If you want to install embedded messaging on a machine where you already have WebSphere MQ installed, you must ensure that you have upgraded to WebSphere MQ 5.3 with the required MQ features ...
- If you have not installed WebSphere MQ 5.3 with the required MQ features, then installation of IBM WebSphere Application Server Embedded Messaging options fails with prerequisite check errors ...
if the embedded messaging uses MQ, what the different from "Installing WebSphere MQ as the JMS provider" ??
what exactly is the embedded messaging provider ? There's also the "WebSphere internal JMS server" mentioned, is it the same as the embedded messaging provider ? if not, what is the embedded ?
thank you,
Hagai. |

My apologies if this firt part is basic, but to answer your question a few givens need to be listed here. JMS is the layer of abstraction between your Java code and whatever "messaging system" you wish to use. In your case, it is WebSphere MQ (it could as easily be SonicMQ).
In the Administrative Console of your WAS Server (just v5.0), you can define the correlations between JMS and WebSphere MQ. WAS v5.0 has a "lightweight" version of WebSphere MQ which allows you to do all of your messaging even without loading a "real" version of WebSphere MQ. The Administrative Console needs to have correlations setup in a similar way to use the "lightweight MQ". This "lightweight MQ" is your embedded messaging.
Hope that this helps. _________________ Jim Schuchardt
