I am new the Message Broker i wanted to know the difference between compute node and mapping node?

It's a bit simplistic, especially in v8 where it's an all-new mapping node not to be confused with the v7 mapping node. It'a a lot less cumbersome than its predecessor and is great for simple to moderately complex transactions.

It does look good in demonstrations doesn't it? It's also there to allow simple transformations to be done quickly.
It's a question of picking the right tool for the right job. Just because you've got a great battery powered screwdriver with a range of adaptors which allow it's use with almost any threaded fixing, you might still employ a hand held flat bladed device to fix a porch light even though the alternative is perfectly viable.

That is not fair to be honest
I spent 6 months in 2012 working with mapping nodes and my respect went up considerably
so that exactly true or fair
it does depend on what is required.

The mapping node, particularly in v8, is capable of sophisticated transformations that require less work to implement than ESQL code.
Aside from automatically creating all elements in the output tree in schema-order, you can actually sort and group and map elements in order-by-field-value.
It requires a fair amount of relearning to do so, however, if you are used to thinking in ESQL. |
