Hi all,

MQ v7.1 and v7.5 allow the creation of multi-instance queue managers on Windows servers that aren't domain controllers. I'm using v7.5.0.0 and am facing the same issue outlined in this APAR: http://www-01.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?uid=swg1IC85940

Has anyone ever had multi-instance working where the server isn't a domain controller? I can't see how it's possible without the fix outlined in the APAR (not available until Q1 2013) as MQ will try to setup the shared directories using a local mqm group.

Can anyone suggest a workaround?

Thanks,

Damian.

Damian, I have it working in a sandbox environment where the network file shares are on another Wintel server which hosts iSCSI targets, except for the shares which are 'local' to the server.

I am running the WMQ service under a domain account on all servers where it is installed and manually created folders on the share box and set their permissions for the service account (I wasn't aware of the APAR at the time); I had no problems whatsoever after that.

All WMQ servers in the domain are non-Domain Controllers.

Thanks Exerk.

I wonder if this is an issue specific to CIFS? Has anyone got a setup of multi-instance QMs on non-domain controllers with shared files on CIFS?

I'm raising a PMR with IBM. I'll report back what I find.

IBM provided an iFix based on the APAR in record time which has resolved this issue. If you're in a similar situation, the fix is due in 7.5.0.1.

Thanks,

Damian.
