John,
Sorry for misleading. I was under the impression that I will be able to change any users password. just verified the API calls and you are right I can only change the logged on users password ( From now on, I should first verify and then try to answer).
Looking at the API calls, I am also under the impression that I can do some tricks and get this done. I think I can use the executionservers PassThrough call to login (this would require the activity assigned to a process starter, and set the process starter to the person you want to change the password for). Do you think it will work?
how do logon3 and logon4 work ( I am completely ignorant). I am under the impression I can do some tricks to logon with out specifying a password, which implies I can set the password.
Of course even if these approaches work they are much difficult than the FDL process. _________________ -Ratan |

Ratan:
Logon3 should not be used, it exists only for compatibility.
Logon4 is used with an Authentication Exit. And yes, this would allow you to login without the use of a password, assuming that your Exit allowed this.
There is some doc on using an Authentication exit in the Programming guide. I have played with them a little bit, and have not found them to be too difficult to deal with.
