I rarely write Java code in the broker (since ESQL rulez, when available…personal opinion – flame war!?!) but sometimes I do and I find it quite irritating that Javadocs are not attached by default when creating a Java project in WMBT.

I did not find a good link directly to an URL that works in my Toolkit, only found this: Info center Javadocs

Since I have a local broker I can attach the Javadocs found under %MQSI_ROOT%/docs/JavaAPI/ (have to put the absolute resolved path however).
I guess the alternative is to get it from your WMB broker and put it on a local directory.

So, by right clicking on the jplugin2.jar -> properties -> Javadoc Location -> Javadoc URL: file:/c:/opt/IBM/MQSI/8.0.0.0/docs/JavaAPI/
Voilà!

Not sure if there is a better way to do it or not?

I guess I tend to keep the infocenter open.

Either way, you should still get somewhat meaningful code completion and code-assist in Toolkit when working with a project that is designed to contain Java code for a JavaCompute node?

Well, just speeds things up when not that used to the API.
Should of course be complemented with reading in Infocenter.

(Just trying to write an User Defined Java Node for the first time from scratch, nothing too serious yet.)
