Hi everyone,
For peace of mind I would be grateful if someone could read the following and point out if I am missing anything or further documentaton I need to read.
I need to set up a user to have read-only type access to a couple of broker environments (v 6.1)
For the UNIX based environments, I understand this is best done by Groups. So the procedure would be to:
1. Create a new group brkrviewer
2. Add user to this group
3. Create ACL entries as follows:
mqsicreateaclentry <Config Mgr Name> -g brkrviewer-a -x V
mqsicreateaclentry <Config Mgr Name> -g brkrviewer-a -x V -b <Broker Name>
Then for each execution group:
mqsicreateaclentry <Config Mgr Name> -g brkrviewer-a -x V -b <Broker Name> -e <Broker Name>\<Execution Group Name>
4. Restart the Config Manager
For Windows environment - same procedure but done by user not group?
Lastly, without a Confguration Manager how can read-only/view access to broker and its components be achieved?
Unfortunately I am on Windows 7 so I can't try out these steps with Broker v6.1
Thanks,
Bret. |

Don't understand the question "without a config manager"?
You may find it easier to list/modify the ACL as a XML file, using the -f keyword on the mqsi ACL commands. |

Why not? Find an old laptop with Windows XP. _________________ http://leanpub.com/IIB_Tips_and_Tricks

On WMBv6.1, no access to a broker and its components can be achieved without a Configuration Manager.

What's that got to do with anything? WMBv6.1 runs under Win7. IIRC it's not a supported configuration but you just want something to evaluate your solution not run at 100 TPS in production. _________________ Honesty is the best policy.
