When trying to display the channels and connections for SVRCONN channel
dis chs(*) for a svrconn, we found 20 running instance of svrconn channels.
but if do a dis conn(*) where (channel eq xxxxxxx), it shows 80 connections.
(sorry, these are silly questions)
1. what's the relationship between channel number and connection number?
2. the "max active channel" in mq.ini define the limit for running channel in AIX.
What's the parameter setting in z/OS?
3. In z/OS environment, ZPARM CSQ6SYSP parameters
IDBACK Maximum number of background connections to a single queue manager using batch connections. 20 X
IDFORE Maximum number of foreground connections to a single queue manager using batch connections. 100 X
this define the connection limit. Is there any similar parameter setting in AIX? _________________ With warm regards and thanks! |

1. IMHO an application can have multiple connections. So e.g. you only see 1 CHS, but 4 CONN for a single application instance. So it just depends on how the application is coded ?!? But i may be wrong here. Just a guess.
2. check the MAXCHL and ACTCHL qmgr parameters
3. dont know _________________ Regards, Butcher |

3) If you mean there is there a limitation for applications not using a svrconn channel, yes there is. Look at maxhandles. However in AIX the qmgr does not distinguish between online or batch... This distinction has no meaning outside zOS, AS400 and similar systems.
