I'm working on getting QMGR backups working using a backup queue manager and having problem.
So far, I've created qmgrs on two machines, both using the exact same crtmqm parameters.
Next, I advance the logs on the active QMGR
Next, DIS QMSTATUS CURRLOG, which gives me a result of 3...
Copy /var/mqm/log/QMGR/active/S0, S1, and S2 over to the backup /var/mqm/log/QMGR/active
Finally, on the backup strmqm -r QMGR
In doing so, I am getting AMQ7017 error... the documentation = LOG NOT AVAILABLE... doesn't say much.
The QMGR Log says:
AMQ6767: Log file /var/mqm/log/QMGR/active/S0000000.LOG could not be
opened for use.
EXPLANATION:
Log file /var/mqm/log/QMGR/active/S0000000.LOG could not be opened
for use. Possible reasons include the file being missing, the queue manager
being denied permission to open the file or the contents of the file being
incorrect.
ACTION:
If the log file was required to start the queue manager, ensure that the log
file exists and that the queue manager is able to read from and write to it. If
the log file was required to recreate an object from its media image and you do
not have a copy of the required log file, delete the object instead of
recreating it.
Any ideas what I'm missing? |

On what platform?
Are you sure of the permissions? I accept you've checked by eye, but is it possible that mqm on machine A has a different SID / GID / etc on machine B & is being refused permissions? _________________ Honesty is the best policy.

Linux
Yes, I've checked the permissions on both systems, the log files are owned mqm:mqm 660. Also checked both /etc/group and /etc/passwd and both have identical entries for mqm. |

It looks like my problem was PROBABLY, that I only copied the LOG directory, and not the data directory as well.
I tared up the /var/mqm/qmgrs/qmgr directory and compied it over to the backup system
then tared up the /var/mqm/log/qmgr directory and copied it over to the backup system
and then it worked. Do I need to copy both of these directories over each time in to a backup/replay? |
