put a message to a queue and then write a row to the database
if the database update fails, u want to "recall" that message on the queue.
if u put it under syncpoint, u can.
now, in general, i tell applications to always to the mqput of the message LAST, after they have succefully done all their other stuff. this way they don't have to deal with worrying about having to recall the mq message. i rarely find myself having to syncpoint a put, but almost always syncpoint a get. note if u syncpoint your gets, you probably should also check the MQMD_BACKOUTCOUNT after each get to prevent poisened message loops.
actually, 1 good place for put syncpoints is when u need to put to 2 queues and you don't want the 1 st message to reaaly go until you are sure the second made it to the queue succesfully.

While we're on the subject... Anyone ever had any problem with Syncpoint operations not working consistantly after upgrading to V5.2???? Thanks, Markus. |

Could you give a little more detail about syncpoints "not working" under 5.2? Are you getting Reason codes, FDCs, etc??
Also what platform are you on?
