We are using WSAD 5.0 for an EJB project. Instead of using the built in MQ Simulator we would prefer to use the actual Websphere MQ 5.3 but we don't seem to be able to find a way to get WSAD to use the actual MQ in stead of the simulator. All documentation we could lay our hands on say that it can be done but not how.
Has anybody here got any tips ??

One added bit of info. IBM MQ is istalled on the same physical machine as WSAD.

This can be done. It has been a while since I messed with it. The problems that I remember having were:

- I had to manually start my queue manager outside of WSAD.
- I had to go to Resources -> WebSphere MQ JMS Provider and define my QCFs and Q's. This is where I had to put in all of the information that mapped the QCF to my queue manager (eg, qmgr, host, port, channel)
- I had to go to Servers -> Application Servers -> server1 -> Message Listener Server -> Listener Ports to configure the listener for the QCF and Q that I created

The only real problem that I remember having was that I had to run everything in MQ client mode rather than bindings because I was running with MQ 5.2 and not MQ 5.3. The DLL name that is used for bindings changed between 5.2 and 5.3 and I kept getting not found errors. I found the easiest thing to do was just switch to client mode. However, if you have 5.3 installed, you shouldn't see this problem.

Another thing to make sure that you do is create the actual MQ objects that are going to be used. Since you are using real MQ rather than embedded, you'll be responsible for defining the actual MQ objects.

Like I said, it has been a while. If this doesn't help, post specific gotcha's that you are encountering and I'll get my machine reconfigured to give it another try.

Looks like we solved it. I will post our results as soon as we have tested it all.
