I'm recreating an existing flow in V8 (actually I'm creating a pattern exemplar based on an existing flow with several modifications, in case someone wonders why).
When I dragged and dropped a subflow from another project I got a popup error message like this:
Quote: |
<subflow> cannot be used as a subflow in <message flow>
Reason:
<subflow> cannot be referenced outside of <subflow project>
|
I cannot recall having seen this on earlier versions. I did add the subflow project to target message flows project references. The projects are classified in the workspace as Independent Resources, and at least the subflow project should be like that in the future, too, because it will be referenced by most projects and thus cannot be included in any specific application, as far as I know with my by now quite limited experience on V8.
I guess this has something to do with the new Application feature.
By the way, the subflow got imported anyway and there are no errors. Will I get into trouble later when I try to deploy the flow/instantiate the pattern? I don't suppose so. |

The error message is being shown by mistake so I will raise a PMR and get that fixed.
As long as you have the subflow project referenced by the main flow project, which you have done correctly, then the flows will still work.
I have recreated your error and the subflow does still get added to the main flow. It can also be packed into a BAR and deployed without any other issues. |

Thanks Phil.
Esa, please get a PMR logged too, so you can get the fix through an APAR if necessary |

No, thanks. I think I can live with it. Besides, my client is not using V8 yet. I was just doing some tests on my own environment while the client's development environment was being upgraded.
V8 Toolkit has a nice feature that lets you send an error report to IBM right after something has happened. I haven't seen it before - perhaps because I haven't tried a .0.0 release before (drag an MQHeader node into a flow and select "add header" option immediately after that if you want to see how it looks like). Certainly better than posting comments about what beta testers have missed to a public forum like I just did. But it would be nice to get (even an automatic) reply email to be sure that the report has reached IBM and not been eaten up by some spam filter. |
